Nick started out on his insurance career in the early 1980s at Nelson Hurst and Marsh, broking professional indemnity business. He has focused on this specialised sector for over 30 years, both in the UK and international markets. Nick is one of the company’s founding directors and, with Glenn Gostling, remains a shareholder. He plays an active role in the business, broking face-to-face with London Market underwriters and managing a number of client relationships.

The other of the company’s founding directors, Glenn embarked on his insurance career in 1985, working for a London insurance broker, placing excess insurance for major legal firms. Since then, he has worked for various broking houses and developed a specialism in professional indemnity insurance. Glenn remains a shareholder in the business.

Charles has over 30 years’ insurance experience, both broking and with insurers.

In 1997, Charles founded Dickson Manchester & Co, a wholesale Lloyd’s Broker and underwriting operation that he sold to HCC in 2003. He went on to become CEO of HCC’s UK insurance companies, HCC International and Houston Casualty Company’s UK branch, as well as Active Underwriter of its Lloyd’s syndicates. Charles left HCC at the end of 2008, enjoying a year’s sabbatical before re-entering the market with Manchester Underwriting Management Limited and acquired 84% of – what is now – MGB in 2013.

Charles is our Chairman, as well as CEO and Chairman of Manchester Underwriting Management Limited (MUM), our parent company.

David qualified as a Chartered Accountant in the London office of Arthur Young, a predecessor of today’s “Big Four“ firm Ernst & Young. Since then he has taken on a number of senior positions with companies across the financial services sector and was previously Group Financial Controller of a Lloyd’s insurance broking group – a position he held for more than 15 years.

David was appointed Finance Director in December 2013.
